Plot Summary:Chile, second half of the 20th century. The poor Esteban marries Clara and they get a daughter, Blanca. Esteban works hard and eventually gets money to buy a hacienda, eventually to become a local patriarch. He becomes very conservative and is feared by his workers. When Blanca grows up, she falls in love with a young revolutionary, Pedro, who urges the workers to fight for socialism. It is unavoidable that Pedro and Esteban are pitted against each other. Esteban tries to stop the love affair between Pedro and his daughter by all means possible but soon Blanca becomes pregnant and has a daughter. The void between father and daughter seems unbridgeable when Blanca moves in with Pedro.

導演企圖描繪二代的愛倩及親情，然而第一代的男女雙方對於愛情之詮釋頗為偏頗，似乎只有以裝酷與仇恨始能表達愛情，然而二人卻自以為是地認為只愛對方，遠超出正常人所能理解，導演出此偏鋒不過更表現其陰暗心理層面，只有更遠離愛罷罷了，豈能侈言知愛。一部電影所要表現的時間緯度，從幾個小時到幾十年均有之，均取決於導演對時間與人物之精準掌握，在跨越的時間越長者，劇中人物之心境與外貌均須適合之配合，如果僅企圖以化妝手法將人物呈現年齡上之改變，卻無相對應的心境呈現，只能說是化妝表演而已，猶如現代仿造之古跡非是古跡一般。
此时的克拉腊已出落得亭亭玉立，两人迅速坠入爱河，很快就喜结连理。克拉腊为埃斯特万诞下女儿布兰卡，一家人的生活其乐融融。
